Charles E. Held, 58, of Oak Harbor, Ohio and formerly of Monroe, MI passed away suddenly Sunday, December 2, 2012 at his home. He was born in Toledo on May 28, 1954 to Charles and Margaret (Rettenberger) Held, attended Northwood Schools and graduated from Lake High School. Chuck was a truck driver with Yellow Freight for 28 years and enjoyed spending time on the water boating and fishing. He was a gifted craftsman and enjoyed tinkering in his garage, gardening and playing his guitar.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gale L. (Nusbaum) Held; son, Rusty Hodges; daughter, Tiffany Gonia; grandson, Myles Gonia; mother and stepfather, Margaret (Fred) Kohn; sisters, Lonna (Paul) Romstadt and Gayle (Kevin) Makin; mother-in-law, Vivian Nusbaum; brothers-in-law, Jerry Nusbaum and Bryon Nusbaum; and sister-in-law, Barbara (Bob) Ellerbush along with many dear nieces and nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his father.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. Oregon, Ohio where a memorial service will begin in the funeral home at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Monroe, Michigan.
