Carl Joseph "Joe" Wright

May 30, 1949 — July 3, 2016

My husband...My hero... My best friend...left this world on July 3, 2016 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family with daughter, Angie and granddaughter, Jenna holding his hand by his side.

Carl Joseph “Joe” Wright of Genoa, Ohio was born on May 30, 1949 in Toledo, OH to the late Carl and Dorothy Wright.  He retired from Chrysler Toledo Machining Plant on Jan. 31, 2016.  He met his wife, Theresa, at a dance 50 years ago.  It was “love at first sight”. They married on October 10, 1969, and they have been inseparable ever since. They traveled several times in the past 2 years to their home in Melbourne, Florida and made pleasant memories there.  Times Joe cherished most were times spent taking his grandson, Jake, fishing (his wingman), watching his grandson, Drew, play high school basketball, baking pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving with his granddaughter, Jenna, and showing his niece, Briana, how to make his famous Deviled Eggs to carry on tradition.  Joe was a selfless human being, always putting family first.  There was nothing he couldn’t do or make and he did it all with ease.  Joe enjoyed Lake Erie boating, fishing, riding his Harley-Davidson, listening to country music, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes and listening to his OSU band CD on gameday.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; loving daughter and and son-in-law, Angela and Doug Lewandowski, Woodville, Ohio; 3 amazing grandchildren, Jacob, Drew and Jenna Lewandowski; siblings, Jim (Julie) Wright, New Port Richey, FL, Chuck (Jean) Wright, Northwood, OH and Alice Weatherwax, Oak Harbor, OH.; as well as special in-laws Harry Beckwith, Tina and Jeff Lovejoy and their families.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Lavon Parker.   We are very grateful for the exceptional staff at Hospice of NWO including music therapist, David Putano and Chaplain Rose for the compassion shown in Joe’s last days.  Theresa and Angie would like to thank Joe’s posse: strongman Robert, Doug, Jeff, Christopher, Mike, Jake and Drew for getting up at 6 AM for the special sunrises that meant so much to him. He loved you all. Thanks, also, to Doug and Jeff for always keeping a “watchful eye” on Joe during these past few months.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, Oregon, on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. with the Funeral Service to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lake Twp. Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
