BRYAN  L.  MCCANDLISH

Bryan L. McCandlish, 59, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 8, 1954 in Toledo to Dean and Wilma (Bartley) McCandlish and was a 1972 graduate of Waite High School.

Bryan began his career as a Quality Technician with Alcoa, working for 10 years until their closing. He then followed his dream of owning his own restaurant, B’s Breakaway Café. He returned to work as a Quality Technician 8 years ago and worked for Riker Products until his diagnosis with cancer in April 2012. During the 1980’s, Bryan was very active at Sacred Heart Catholic Church working and planning festivals and was a Cub Scout leader for Raymer Elementary. He loved music and was a gifted guitarist, enjoyed creating stained glass pieces, walking and was an avid reader; but most of all, his grandchildren were the light of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Peggy McCandlish; son, Bryan (Deb) McCandlish ; daughter, Jacey (Michael) Duffer; grandchildren, Joseph and Annabelle Duffer; siblings, Deb (Dave) Matzinger, Sandy (Bud) Cordell, Daryl McCandlish, Bill (Chris) Finnegan, Richard King, Kathy McCandlish, Dean (Alicia) McCandlish, Michael McCandlish and Caroline (Brian) Webster; many nieces and nephews, father-in-law, Pete Carlo; and brother-in-law, Jim Carlo. Bryan was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Shannon; parents Dean McCandlish and Wilma Many; brother, Bob; nephew, Aaron Carlo; brother-in-law, Marty; mother-in-law, Patsy Carlo and grandparents, Howard and Arvilla Bartley and Edgar and Anne McCandlish.

Friends and family may visit from 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd., Oregon, where the Funeral Service will begin at  11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be private. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.  www.freckchapel.com.
