Bernard A. Raczkowski, 86, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born to Peter and Stella Raczkowski on August 18, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio where he lived most of his life before moving to Genoa, Ohio.  Bernard served in the U.S. Army, during World War II.

He married Dorothy Marie Bieganski on September 30, 1950 and together they started their family.  Bernard retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio where he worked as a mechanic for many years. He was a true family man who loved spending time at his summer place on Silver Lake.  Bernard had a passion for fishing, boating and golfing.  But most of all, he was known as the “man who could fix anything.”

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, step-sisters and grandson, Michael.  He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy; children, Jeff (Jenny) and Sue and his granddaughter, Sarah.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd. Oregon, Ohio on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. where a scripture service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday at 9 a.m. and continue on with the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.freckchapel.com.
