Becky Ann Martinez, 47, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 surrounded by her friends and family at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born on November 24, 1965 in Toledo to Frank Martinez and Melba Stambaugh.
Becky was full of life and refused to allow her physical limitations to dictate her life experiences. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was famous for hosting cook-out events regularly. Becky possessed a knock-out sense of humor, unbelievable courage, and a wealth of love for her family and friends. Truly beautiful, inside and out, Becky taught us to live in the moment, laugh until it hurts, and to never let a margarita go to waste.
Becky is survived by her loving children: John (Melanie) Pina, Anjelo (Ty) Pina and Julian (Jamie) Pina; 3 grandchildren; her siblings, Frank (Tracy) Martinez, David (Michelle) Martinez, Raymond (Kim) Martinez, Pamela Akers and Brian (Kelly) Martinez; step-brothers, Jacob (Tina) Roig and George Roig. She is also survived by special friend, Shawn (John), many nieces, nephews and extended family members, including the Smenner family. Becky was preceded in death by her parents and companion, Robert Smenner.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd. in Oregon from 1-4 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family.
