Barbara J. Dickman, 75, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Perrysburg Center. She was born on March 29, 1938 in Pocatello, ID to Herbert and Ethel “Marie” (Thyberg) Palmer. Barbara worked in many careers throughout her life, managing LaSalles restaurants, vocational teaching at Whitmer and Tri State Vocational, as well as being a nurses Aid in Oncology at M.C.O. She had a thirst for teaching and learning, obtaining multiple college degrees. More than her work, her family was her true passion. Barbara loved each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved nothing more than to see each of them happy and pursuing their dreams.
Barbara is survived by her loving daughter, Stephanie (Daniel) Taylor; grandchildren, Amber, Brittaney and Brianna; great grandchildren, Dominik, Nicholas, Giselle, Mason and Aiden; siblings, Michael, Patrick, Janelle, Barry, Kelly and Scott as well as her beloved extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Elmena “Peggy” Palmer; sisters, Kathy Palmer and Nancy Cobia.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd., Oregon, on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. where the funeral service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Inurnment will be private. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
