Barbara Ann Baird

May 7, 1932 — December 22, 2021

Oregon, Ohio

Barbara Ann (Riggle) Randolph Baird, “Bobbi,” age 89, died Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Continuing Healthcare of Toledo after an illness. She was born May 7, 1932 in Columbus, OH to Daniel and Betty Riggle and had an older brother, Roger. Bobbi graduated from West High School in Columbus in 1950, and later had daughters, Cyndi and Cheri, with her husband, Harry Randolph, before moving to Millbury, OH in 1968.

While her daughters were growing up in the Woodland Court neighborhood in Millbury, Bobbi was not only a loving mother to her girls, but also the “neighborhood mom,” opening her home and her heart to her daughters’ friends.

Always an honest, straight, shooter, Bobbi could be stubborn and sassy and always told it like it was with a deft touch.

Especially active in her daughters’ formative years, Bobbi volunteered at the Lake Elementary School Library, and served as president of the Lake High School band boosters. She also enthusiastically attended Lake sporting events.

Bobbi greatly enjoyed her time working as a glassware decorator for nearly 20 years at the Custom Deco manufacturing business in Toledo, where she had many friends as co-workers.

A lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and a frequent follower of the Toledo Storm hockey team, Bobbi re-married in the mid-1990’s and moved to Keystone Heights, FL. She quickly became an avid TV fan of the Atlanta Braves, rooted for the nearby Florida Gators, and regularly followed NASCAR racing.

Bobbi had a soft spot in her heart for all animals and had several cats and dogs as pets throughout her life. They were a big part of what she valued most-family.

Her love of family and personal generosity was never more evident than in the early 2000’swhen she traveled back north for seven weeks between May and July each year to help care for her beloved special-needs granddaughter, Shaylee. It was at a time when Cheri’s management job required upwards of 80 hours a week.

Once back in Florida with husband, Bill Baird, Bobbi spent many happy times with neighbor and best friend Shirley Deen, and tending to her pets.

Bobbi was a true survivor. She beat breast cancer in the late 1990’s and in July of 2018 was revived from cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, these latter years became more difficult for Bobbi, who bravely and stubbornly navigated the early stages of dementia. Although a fiercely independent widow, this battle led her to relocate back north to reside with Cyndi and husband, Marty in Oregon, OH.

Those who knew her well speak in harmony about a life well-lived.

Bobbi leaves behind her children, Cyndi (Marty) and Cheri (Heath); and her granddaughter, Kristen (Patrick). She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shaylee; her spouses; and her parents.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until the memorial service begins at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Shriner’s Hospital.
