August "Chip" Michael Pastorek

January 27, 1960 — November 17, 2018

August Michael “Chip” Pastorek, 58, died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family and friends after a 2 year hard fought courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 27, 1960 in Bowling Green, OH. August was a graduate of Maumee High School and Penta Co. August spent 30 years working in the automotive industry before transitioning in 2006 to what he loved most and never called work, starting Maumee Bay Marine Services, a mobile marine repair, servicing the boating community and charter captains of Lake Erie for the last 12 years. He enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling/cruising all over the Caribbean (Aruba favorite location), gardening, making wine and house renovations. His proudest moment was serving as the 2007 Commodore of Harbor View Yacht Club, following in the footsteps of his father who held the same office of Commodore at Indian Hill Boat Club (where Chip grew up and found the love of boating). August has been a member of Harbor View Yacht Club for the last 25 years. He lived as he loved, unconditionally, giving of himself always to whoever needed help, whether at home or afar on vacation, it meant the most to him to be able to help others.

August is survived by Jennifer (Shellhouse) Pastorek, his loving wife of 20 years; mother, Charlotte Pastorek; mother-in-law, Lorraine Shellhouse; siblings, Pat (Brian) Hollabaugh, Ed (Lisa) Pastorek; sister-n-law, Kristy (Jim) Pothast; uncle, Jerry O’Kenka (Jeri Wendt); nieces and nephews Bryan (Kelly) Hollabaugh, Kailyn Katafiasz, Jeremy (Jennifer) Katafiasz and Bridget Hollabaugh; niece and god daughter, Brandy (Matt) Bertz; niece-in-law, Lara Jade; nephew-in-law, Aiden Pothast; great-nieces and nephews, Drew, Alexis, Harper, Journie, Noah and Brian; Australian Shepherd, Mystere. He was preceded in death by his father, August Pastorek.

Chip and I lived by this below- as we looked back over our 20 years, we had zero regrets, we were able to travel, do projects, live the best version of our lives together while we had the opportunity, never someday… he often told people, do the things you want to do now as tomorrow may never come.

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than those you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. – Mark Twain
