Alice J. Sradeja, 95, of Oregon, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Willows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 6, 1920 to Charles and Hattie Bickelhaupt. Alice served over 35 years in retail business with Lasalles, Macy’s and Elder-Beermans Department Stores. After retirement she enjoyed volunteering in the gift shop at St. Charles Hospital.
Alice loved all her family dearly, especially caring for her great-granddaughter, Shelby Oehlers, after her husband, Joe passed away. Alice always said “Shelby gave me more than I could ever give her.”
She is survived by her children, David (Linda) Vermett, Mary Ellen Vermett and Art (Sue) Sradeja; sister, Joyce Seel; 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and special friend, Mary Ellen Weiss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sradeja; son, Gary Vermett; brothers, Arthur Bickelhaupt and Charles Bickelhaupt and her parents.
Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 10 -1 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
