Alice I (Hart) Ferguson

Alice Irene Teresa (Hart) Ferguson, went into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, December 26th, surrounded with prayers and singing by her family and Little Sisters at Sacred Heart Home. Her son, Father Gary Ferguson gave her the final anointing and as Sister Raymond was saying prayers for her journey, she left to go home to God, where she was met by family that had journeyed before her.  She was born on October 21, 1921, the first child of her parents Catherine (Dougherty) and Harold Hart. She graduated from Waite High School in 1939 and married the brother of a good friend, Donald E Ferguson on May 15, 1943. She is the loving mother of Father Gary Ferguson of Wauseon OH,(retired pastor of St Peter's Archbold and Our lady of Mercy of  Fayette.), and Kathy Ferguson McGinnis (Mike) of Oregon OH, and Cyndie Lombardo (Kevin) of Bowling Green OH.

She was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband “Ferg”, a very special grandson, Donald Albert Thielen, sister, Kathleen (Hart) Specht, brothers- James and Richard Hart, and sisters- in laws and brothers-in law.

Also left to cherish her memory are granddaughter, Deana Gilbert, grandson Gary McGinnis, great granddaughters Emma and Sarah Gilbert, sisters-in-law, many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces, and many friends.

Alice was a long time member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she was a member and past president of the Altar/Rosary Society, Liturgy Committee, Communion Distributor and typist of the Church's newsletter. She along with her good friend Dorothy White, Sister Joy and others, were instrumental in establishing the Senior Day of Reflection held every summer in August at St Charles Hospital. She had a great devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St Jude and St Teresa Little Flower.

She was employed by North American Phillips AAA of N.W. Ohio and the Toledo Museum of Art.  Alice had the great opportunity to travel to Ireland with some of her family in 1977 and was honored to meet the Pope in 2010 in Rome at his weekly audience.

After selling her home, she became the “triangle grandmother” having a room at each of her children s' homes and would travel in a triangle between Archbold/Wauseon, Oregon and Bowling Green, Ohio to have time with all of her family.

She become ill in 2013 and eventually moved into Sacred Heart Home in Oregon Ohio, where she was very happy and grateful to live until her passing.  Many thanks, much gratitude, and lots of love goes to and all the wonderful, loving and caring Little Sisters, nurses, aids and staff at Sacred Heart Home, Heartland Hospice, Father Joe Wegman and to Dr Michael Neveraskus.

Visitation will be at Freck Funeral Chapel located at 1155 South Wynn Rd, Oregon Ohio from 2 to 8 pm with Rosary and Scripture service at 7 pm Monday, December 29th.  Funeral will be at Sacred Heart Home's Chapel (second floor) at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 30th, with visitation before the funeral from 9am. Sacred Heart Home is located at 930 S Wynn Rd., Oregon Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to “LSOP, Sacred Heart Home”.
