Kathrine "Kathy" Whitmore-Wyland

Kathrine "Kathy" Whitmore-Wyland, age 53, of Toledo, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She was born on May 18, 1970 in Toledo, Ohio to Robert and Helen Whitmore. Kathy was a sweet and kind person who never said anything bad about anyone. She recently worked for CVS as a medical delivery driver where she enjoyed the quiet time on her nightly drives to listen to her music and audiobooks. Kathy also ran and operated Wylands Auction and flea market for years where she gained many friends and close acquaintances. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, going on nature walks and taking photos. Kathy loved to read. She would bring home cases of books at a time only to have them all read by the end of the week. Her favorite collectibles were her many turtles, no matter where she found them she could never say No to just one more turtle to add to her collection. Some would describe Kathy as ornery at times or a trickster. She loved to play jokes or pranks on her friends and family, whether it was her asking “hey does this cake smell funny to you” and get you with cake frosting to the nose or hiding in the closet with an airhorn waiting for just the right moment to startle you. She was called Mama by the many neighborhood friends her sons had growing up, everyone knew her home was a safe place to come chat, grab a snack or cup of coffee and relax. She loved her family deeply and fiercely and never forgot to let you know how much she did. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. 

Kathy is survived by her sons, Christopher (Corrina) Wyland, and Curtis (Chastity) Wyland; fiancé, Todd Swartz; grandchildren, Chensley, and Caleb; her siblings, Robert (Debra) Whitmore, and Timothy (Kelly) Whitmore; aunt, Judy Weber; uncles, David (Patty) Hardy, and Jack (Jeanine) Hardy; nephew, Brandon (Chloe); nieces, Casey (Ryan), Sarina (Megan), and Angel; close family members, Jessica Sroga, and Joyce Swartz and her pet Yorkie, Little Bit. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Whitmore; mother and stepfather, Helen (Charles) VanCamp; granddaughter, Charlotte Wyland; and her niece, Kelsey Jane Whitmore. 

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd in Oregon on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 12-3:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Save the Sea Turtles Foundation.
